    Hi folks,

I know that this is an Irish forum and we tend to discuss things relevant to Sky Digital viewers in the Republic but I thought it might be interesting to expand our horizons a little bit.

I'm sure most people posting here frequent other information sites but maybe not everyone has the time to check out the latest testing news so I thought maybe we should share the latest info about test channels here.

To kick things off I've put together a (not conclusive) list of the recent frequencies where there's been channels testing that you could try out in your "Add Channels" section.

    11.585H 27.5 2/3 - Remux Channels (?)
    11.623H 27.5 3/4 - Czech TV Testing
    11.662H 27.5 3/4 - '' ''
    11.681V 27.5 2/3 - Euronews and God Channels
    11.798H 27.5 2/3 - BBC2 Nations testing
    12.607H 27.5 3/4 - Those Czech Channels again !
    12.285V 27.5 2/3 - GameNetWork

The list above is far from definitive and may even contain errors, but maybe we could try to keep each other up to date on what's happening (particularly anything with an "Irish" angle).

I agree with Charles that keeping each other up to date on testing channels is a good idea. Many get posted over at uk.media.tv.sky, but there are so many postings I usually find I have trouble keeping track of those which have a new frequency to check.

Maybe ICDG could have a page on the frequencies (particularly the new Eurobird) as they appear. Some UK sites do this, but not all are as up to date as the list above, and, obviously, the tests are often infrequent and require a regular check. (For example, EuroNews tested last month for a few days, but then stopped - the one on the current banner isn't broadcasting either.)

Tests can be great fun, though - several times last year Sky have shown PPV events in the clear on tests (boxing, football matches) and saved many having to fork out for them! And you can see interest test screens (I liked their widescreen test card - great for seeing what is cropped and what's not!) Some also play Sky promo music over a logo which would not otherwise be heard. One of the best from last September was the showing of Voyager's "Scorpion, Part II" with audio description on a repeating loop. No end credits were shown, and the episode continuously repeated with the action playing and the voiceover descriptions on top -

Voiceover: "A Borg alcove explodes in an array of flashing light, revealing a young woman adorned in Borg circuitry."

Seven: "My designation is Seven of Nine."

And so on. The opening titles, described in full detail, were hilarious!

Anyway, I'm waffling. In short, there are gems to be found during tests, so, yes, we should either keep a thread for this or maybe Ronan could have a page which takes the latest info from the forum thread and would be a handy bookmarkable page for visitors.
