    Hi all -

    Quickie.

Are BBC FTA cards linked to a particular box or can they be used in any box?

    John.

They are linked its true - however i dont think anyone checks and if they do just say that you've recently subscribed to sky and that you forgot to cancel the card.

I dont think Sky would be interested in cutting the BBC service anyway!!

But to get them to work on another box you have to have a UK TV licence.

Best bet is to get a UK box + FTV card or apply for an FTV card for your Irish box (which you would swap depending on which services you want.) Cards are "married" to the boxes they are activated in, though and cannot be used in other boxes. (The exception to this is C4 and C5 which will decrypt. No BBC channels will. Same applies to Sky premium channels, but not to the Family Pack ones.)

I picked up a UK ex-contract box just for BBC News 24 and digital C4 two years ago, so I do hope that all these services do become available to all in the near future.
