Ask Sky for more channels.

Reading the postings from others on the various threads, it seems that the reason we got BBC 1 and 2 is that Sky put pressure on the Beeb to make them available to us. It also appears that Sky are paying most of the costs for them. So I would imagine that our best chance of receiving the other British terrestrials and additional Beebs, is to make sure that Sky know we really, really want them.

If Sky get the message loud and clear that the lack of these channels is getting in the way of them getting a big market share in Ireland, they'll make it their business to get negotiations really going.

The same is true of the Irish terrestrials. Let Sky know we really want them on their platform. I can't see RTE jumping at the chance, since it's management wouldn't know a progressive opportunity from a hole in the ground.

But TV3 seems to be fairly forward-looking, so I'd say they're more likely to get on board with a little encouragement from Sky. Once TV3 join up, RTE will have little option but to go on Sky digital when their ratings start to drop.

Basically what I'm saying is that it might be wise to concentrate our efforts on Sky. That way we might get more results from less effort.

What does anyone else think ?

Yeah, good enuff idea. D'ya know the proper email address for sky? Better again, contact BOTH Sky and the channels in question, namely C4, C5, RTÉ 1, Network 2, TVthree and, of course, TG4!

"Does anyone have the correct e-mail for Sky?"

I can't guarantee that you'll get a satisfactory (or any) reply, but the current one in use is:

Is BBC Parliament on the EPG in Ireland now?

not afaik - the BBC/Sky would have to do this. The BBC won't as ith would involve paying money to non UK TV licence holders. Sky won't do this as it's BBC Parliament.

BTW - any sign of programmes being blacked out on BBC ONE yet?

It seems to be a full service. Match of the Day, Eastenders, live UEAFA cup football, all feature films etc etc. As far as I can see nothing has been blacked out yet.
