Has anyone had any problems cancelling their mmds service. I sent them a registered letter last week. Should I be expecting a phone call soon?

How long do they take to come and take the stuff away?

    ...don't hold your breath!

I had to make about 10 calls to have my subscription cancelled.
They said they'd send someone out to collect the equipment, but four weeks later, nobody came, so I dropped the black box and remote into the Cork office.
The 'attendant' at the desk had the gall to ask 'why didn't you bring the antenna in as well?'. It's still on my roof, by the way.

A few weeks later they sent me a bill with a 'late fee' of £6.05 (why has nodoby on the forum discussed this 'late fee' so far - it's ridiculous - is it legal??).

Thank God I don't have to endure their incompetence any more. The joy of BBC on Sky Digital, no interference or breakdowns, and excellent picture and sound quality.

They also sent me another bill lately which they can shove....As for late fee when your disconnected...what
a joke...i guess mines in the post

But I sent them a registered letter to their Limerick HQ, does that not mean anything. I have proof they got it! I am not going to waste any more time on them!

As soon as my service expires (may 25) I shall remove their attenna from my roof and have it ready with the black boxes. No way are they going on my roof! (possibly to damage my sky dish?)

By the way should I be expecting a phone call trying to coax me back?

    regards
    PJ

Whilst not in your position as yet, the issue of damaging the Dishes when removing Chorus aeriels occurred to me. If their personnel are allowed near any dishes whilst removing their aeriels, I'd keep a close eye on them.

    Your right!
I wont let them on my roof. I will have it on the ground ready for the chorus monkey to pick it up!

    Hi Guys,

Just surfed on to this site tonite by accident and will be back regularly as it is pretty good.

I have finally managed to resolve my dispute with 'Chorus'and although I was on Cable not MMDS perhaps you should take note of the Legal Advice I was given.

    1) Do not interfere with any of their equipment as you have only rented it.
    2) Photocopy your request for the removal of Box, Cable & Antenna, make it clear that you will be photgraphing the whole procedure to ensure no damage is caused to your property. Send the Origional to their Registered Office by Registered post and the copy to your Own Address by the same method. When your copy arrives sign for it but do not break the seal on the envelope. You now have the basis of a claim for compensation in the event of any malicious damage.

In conclusion please do not refer to the staff as 'monkeys'
as the majority of them are decent blokes who are only carrying out the instructions of the 'FatCats' who are trying to make a quick buck before the whole system collapses.

    Regards,

    Mike

Just thought you might like to know I had the Chorus rep around today to remove the decoder box and ariel (I sent Chorus a letter three weeks ago). He was a surprisingly nice person, but upon further investigation, it turns out that he does not work for Chorus directly, that explains it. I aksed him if he had any problems dealing with Chorus - he has practically the same problems the rest of us have. He said on numerous occasions, while installing a box, he has rang head office asking them to switch on the signal, and been put on hold for up to 30 mins.

I asked him was he doing much of this lately (de-installations) - he said he did approx. 45 - 50 a week along with 20-25 new installations. He reckons Sky is having a major impact on Chorus. He said digital installation would not begin for at least another month, and most likely then, only in the larger towns/cities.

    Interesting.

Well Chorus have still not come to remove the dish from the side of the house. They were supposed to come on Monday - good job I left the box into their shop in town, as I would have had to get out of work for nothing.

Meanwhile, I still haven't heard from the engineer about when he's going to install Sky. I rang the shop I ordered it from two days ago now. Yes, I'm impatient!
