Does anyone know what would be the easiest way to save and record a live stream from the internet?

    What software to use?

    thanks - leaves.

Righty , firstly if the stream is comming through win media player then you can get a few rippers , look around in google , asf ripper for instance ( could only be for vids ) . anyway if its comming thorugh Real player then get cool edit 200 or anyother program that you could record your voice through ( through a mic) now
Get an optical cable , ones you use in mini discs (both have same ends) , dissconect your mic and your speaker (behind your pc), connect the optical cable comming from the speaker area into the mic area .

Now press record on cool edit 200 and play on real player .
Make sure your sound volume isnt at full blast and make sure your mic input level isnt at full either (you can change both in the control panel > audio settings). Cool edit allows you to cut off crappy bits that got recorded when you were pressing play etc .

You can use wav recorder aswell if you want but cool edit it much or way better , lets you save songs as mp3s etc .

If the song you recorded doesnt sound right and is totally ****ed up then lower audio output and mic input levels in control panel .

Plus if your looking to record a new song exclusively played or whatever then dont cause some will do it by tomorow and it will be on kazaa (live and learn)#

    Hope it helped .

Forget the microphone stuff... check out
    http://www.souxin.com/en/stream-software-down.htm
Has a big list of utilities for saving streaming data including RealPlayer, Windows Media Player etc.
Streambox VCR seems to be the most popular one though.
