85C on a Penitum 1ghz

    mates PC is intermittently stopping Sandra says this.

    3 fans running in his PC: heatsink, power fan and another added all ware functioning but still its 85C


    never had a Intel but my AMD is 1.6 oced to 18 and runnning at 55C

    Anyone any ideas why this is happening??

    CPU voltage set too high? Crap or misinstalled heatsink? No thermal paste between heatsink & CPU? Too much paste? 85C is definitely well out of bounds for a Pentium III.

    lol, reminds me of a guy who bought his pc to me today.
    It wouldn't power on - he didn't have the power switch connected.
    Still didn't power on - he had previously flipped the switch at the back of the psu to 130volts - fried his psu.
    I powered up with a spare psu - no keyboard detecting (hmmmm)

    Had a closer look at the motherboard and it was practically bent in half and was in direct contact with the case - no risers installed for the motherboard and all his ports were a bit out of place not to mention the board had as much concave as my skateboard.
    Reset and another few things not working properly.

    he bought an upgrade kit from komplett and didn't know how to put it together, configure his bios OR even install his bleedin OS!
