First thread that wouldn't be deleted (if we had a mod)

McRae wants it to be as cold as possible in Sweden

That man is insane. I understand him not wanting a repeat of the gravel-like roads of last year, but as cold as possible?

I think it's probably a case of wanting it as cold as possible so that the roads stay snowy and icy instead of the slushy, muddy, changeable conditions of last year. Better to have it cold and consistant than warm and inconsistant, I guess. Also, you have to remember that in Sweden they are only allowed studded snow/ice tyres no matter what the conditions are like and they just do not perform properly in gravelly conditions. Therefore, I can see Colin's point in wanting it to be cold and have the proper conditions for the tyres to perform at their best.

Be interesting to see how the Citroens get on in Sweden, anyway. We all knew they were going to do well on the Monte and the other tarmac events but expected them to struggle on the gravel. If they seem to go well in Sweden, though, they might not be all that bad on the gravel events after all. Time will tell.

Actually, I think they're allowed normal gravel tyres as well, but they don't work well in snow, and snow tyres don't work well in gravel, so they're screwed unless it's properly cold or warm.

McRae is ranting these days and is looking for any excuse to excuse his lack of speed...grist and he parted ways amicably..i doubt it.

I dont understand how he has maintained his high profile in the WRC and beyond..i mean its practically a decade since he won the WRC championship and Loeb is already out pacing Mcrae.

[imo] the man who deserves the $5m a year is Marcus but you wont see peugeot being so frivolous with their cash, just like BMW Williams..front runners in speed but not in wages .

Richard got lucky with a series of circustances but also very good driving...now at Peugeot, he his showing a lack of outright speed.

WRC is always fun to watch though, regardless of who is dominating. You can really just sit back and enjoy it.

was anyone else freaked that tv3 didn't have the rally last weekend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Chimaera

    Yep!!!

And they don't seem to have any coverage of the Swedish Rally this weekend either!!!!

I think some stern emails to TV3 from everyone here are in order.

What are you talking about McRae slow he is the fastest driver in WRC and the best you look at the car he was driving last year this year he cannot prove himself either as he is in a car which is being developed you put him in a 206 and he would whitewash everyone he has got both pace and skill.

where else can you get coverage. I would love to have a couple of hours covergae rather than higlights.

a bit like forumla 1 some live coverage.

yeah. it'd be great if you could watch entire stages from a camera in or on the car.

That's on the cards for later this year I believe. ISC have plans to do live TV coverage of stages in some of the rallies later in the year - can't remember which ones. If you have the time, a trawl through the news archives on www.wrc.com would yield more info.
