I love hurling. If it wasnt for the fact I live in dublin, Grew up on foorball and cant play hurling I would be a hurling freak.
Personally I would love to see the dubs beat soemone good this year encourage some kids to pick up the ash in the city.

But for now I think the only place I will see good hurling is in Kilkenny...those freaks are awsome at hurling arent they ?

must be a shoe in for liam once again.

Love playing and watching the hurling. Played for school and club, and after Dublin I would shout for Clare in the Hurling as it is my mother native county. Fortunately there is no conflict on interest in either hurling or football very often but if one arose I am a true blue.

    Up the BANNER

yup, i likes the hurling too. coming from waterford, we don't like to talk about the football too much ( 1 pt from the past 3 years' games in the NFL thank you very much).

Did ye hear what happened in Kilkenny? At half-time in one of the hurling club championship games, 3 lads went out on the pitch playing with (shock shock horror) a football. The county chairman then proceeded to make his way onto the pitch and puncture the offending article. For shame!

i think it was an U-21 challenge game last year. the powers that be in the gaa have started an investigation but without an independent referee or a referee's report, i don't know what they're gonna do. he's the subject of an impending court case based on the same incident - the victim was in a pretty bad way!

I really enjoy watch the games on TG4...my family are mad supporters in trying to get to every Kilkenny match possible...

..myself and by brothers followed by uncles in going to St. Kierans College (which produces most of our county hurling talent)...my youngest brother is currently on the college minor team afaik

the county club is James Stephens..."the village"...

Kilkenny playing Westmeath this weekend in the Walsh Cup Semi Final.

Kilkenny putting out a lot of U-21's and Westmeath have improved, could be a good game for this time of year!

Dublin probably have the best underage hurling set up in the country. About 10 or 15 years ago the County Board in Dublin made a concerted effort to promote hurling in the county but they decided to start at under 8 level and in schools rather than at say, club U 16 level using the premise "cant teach old dogs new tricks".
It was a long term policy that is starting to pay dividends now. I have a friend in Cork who has his own hurley making business and he actually sells more hurls to Dublin than he does to Cork, especially kids hurls.

I wish my own County Board here in Cork could take a similar long term view.

Dublin copied what Cork used to do in the late 1990's and somehow improved on it, whether it's resources or just sheers numbers it's hard to know but some counties have catching up to do very quickly

I doubt they were told to get off the pitch because they had a football, I've seen plenty of young lads with footballs on the field at half-time over the years in Kilkenny. Young lads are always allowed on to the field at half-time in every pitch in Kilkenny, except in Nowlan Park during bad weather.

There was a group of young lads at a county QF this year in Nowlan Park who went on to the pitch at half-time with a football that were told to get off. That was more down to saving the pitch as there was two junior matches before the QF, not to mention 4 matches the previous week and two scheduled the week after. And there was an announcement asking people to keep off the pitch to allow just before half-time. The young lads simply went behind the goal and there was no problem.

Who says we'll talk to you? :D

Whats the new fella's on the Tipp panel this year? Are there any more young lads coming through this year?(I heard P Maher's younger brother is a serious talent, is he too young?)And talking to a Tipp friend he says Gleeson may be taking over from Cummins in goal for the league. Any truth in that?
