Is it possible that this can ever be fixed with software? I know it's a longshot but you can get flightmode enabled with software.

Would you really want one of these headsets ?

They're like having another phone attached to your ear !

.....and another bloody thing to charge everday second day !

but then thats just my opinion !

Afraid not there are no interfaces to add the Headset Profile to the 7650, according to the Forum Nokiateam (You need to be logged in for the link to work). There are a few other posts in the Bluetooth forum where the team members reply with a negative answer. The 7650 was very much a get it out there ASAP phone, hence some of it's shortcomings

The Platronics M1500 would be a compromise if it was compatible with the 7650, although it's does seem a bit limited in battery life and it the adapter makes it less practical than a headset+phone alone.

The flight-mode app turns off the (GSM) radio features of the phone, so just a case of it being easier to take away features than add them.

I'd be curious about the reaction of using this though, some flight attendants are (rightly) insistant if they see a phone during a flight - attempting to explain that the radio could be switched off wouldn’t be a task i'd like to undertake - took me a few minutes to convince one that an iPAQ didn't have any lasers and couldn't make a call before i was allowed to use it again :)

i've seen a guy wearing one in a night club, although it must be handy for their friends to spot them in a crowd, they were the one with the green flashing LED attached to their head walking around!!

although they do have their place, one of the more practical situations i've seen one being used was a business man on a cycle path in amsterdam, maybe a bit risky but they are pretty safe (as they have their own traffic lights etc.), definitely not worth risking it cycling in dublin though!
