Little problem here... something basic but as I dont know a whole lot about macs Im lost.

I have a G3 running OSX connected to an LCD monitor and some dimwit here (no it wasnt me) changed the resolution to 1600x1200, which obviously the lcd monitor cant handle. I'm looking for a quick & painless way to get the resolution down to something like 1024x768...

    Thanks for the help.

    System preferences -> displays.

the System prefernces icon should be in the dock. If not you'll find it in /Applications/Utilites/

You can also set it that there would be an permant icon on the top right next to the clock. (I find it useful when doing web design, so i can see how it looks at 640*480)

amm thanks for the reply, but I cant exactly go into system preferences if theres nothing on the screen :(

I was aiming more along the shortcut keys route rather than the click here and click there route...

heh! well this may work but please dont get your hopes up!
I am running Jaguar so I hope the same applies on your Mac...

Turn on "Keyboard access" by pressing control and F1
Press control and m to bring you the menu up top. The apple menu will drop first.
Press the down arrow three times to bring you to "system preferences" wait for it to load...
Click control m again for menu while you are in preferences.
    click right button 3 times
    click down 9 times
ok this is where I cant help any more and you have to click wildly somewhere top-left! Sorry I thought I could do it but I can only get so far with the keys.
It basically brings you to the attachment

can you not use a normal monitors

    Reset your PRAM.

Start up the computer holding down cmd-opt-p-r

    (opt may be labled alt)
That resets lot's of things such as sound volume, screen resolution etc.

    That should do the trick!

I tried the full keyboard access thing above also! wierd that it's not possible to do the full thing! BTW, instead of ctrl-m it's ctrl-F2 on my system (There's a setting to use letters or function keys)
