For ages i've wanted to do Kung Foo, but I live in Tralee and I'm from shannon - and these towns do not have Kung Foo. :( I've done tae kwon do for two and a half years and i've done Jujitsu for roughtly eight months.I loved both of these and it was a shame I had to give them up, but i'm just wondering do any of you people do Kung Foo, or know of any clubs near Tralee and/or Shannon? Cheers.

Is there no advertisements in the local news paper or in a community centre??

This is where I usually find out about self defense classes.

I know in Tipperary town there is all sorts of Self defense classes.

Check your local paper anyway and see what the result is.

If you don't find anything I will look out for something anyway.

I've tried the local newspapers! hehe. I even sent out a Wanted column in the Shannon diary. And i haven't seen any advertisements in "The Kerryman" either. But thanks for keeping an eye out.

I appreciate travelling might be an nuisance, but Shannon is quite close to both Ennis and Limerick, and if they have none I'll eat my hat.

Good point. He might not have any transport though so it might be quite difficult for him.

I'll keep my eye open though.

    Why Kung Fu?
    And which style?
Wu Shu, Wing Chun, Wing Tsun, only the big names, also Pa Qua and Tsing Yi.
Do you prefer a linear or circular style?
What's wrong with Ju-Jitsu and TKD?
Have trained with a lad from Beijing and he is an able martial artist. His basic "pub" style is burst your eardrums or blind you!
More like WWII combatives than eastern martial art, only so many ways to hurt the body

TBH any style would do. And there's nothing wrong with Tae Kwon do or jujitsu - it's just that i've already tried them and would like to try something new. There is a Tae Kwon Do course in Tralee but no jujitsu or kung foo, so it looks like it's back to TKD for me

Also try your local radio station to advertise this. Maybe you will get a reply this way.

Usually it is very cheap to advertise in your local newspaper and radio station. just give a contact number and I am sure some one can get in contact with you.

Perhaps the travelling method be better though. Maybe you could advertise by asking some-one that does Kung Fu and ask them if you could get a lift and get more details this way.

Well no luck finding anything in your area yet anyways :(

Kung Fu is not a particular style, rather it refers to skill in martial arts.

    For Example:
A Brown belt student in karate-do has more Kung Fu than the Yellow Belt Student.

    Hello Austin,

I am not aware of any Kung Fu classes in Bray (except for my own Kids classes).

We will be moving into our new Academy at the start of July and you are welcome to come down and try out a free week. The new place is in Deansgrange and is right on the 45 bus route which comes from Bray.

We are based in Newpark sports centre, Blackrock (close to the 45 bus route) and if you wnat to try out a week of classes next sometime in June you're more than welcome.

Check out the website and drop me a mail if you want to come along.

    Goodluck with the search
