    I recently bought a 16 speed riter but I wont rite at 16 takes about 15 min to rite full cd, I have updated drivers, I have tried nero and a few others

    Its a philips 48-12-16 rw

    I have a gateway
    p2 400
    256ram
    win98

    Any 1 any ideas?

    Are you using media certified for use at speeds higher than 4x?

    If you're not and the media won't take it, Nero will drop the speed.

    Yea all cds i use are higher then 16x, its says its ritin at 16 but with the time it takes its obviously not.

    Does it say it's writing at 16x in all programs ? Maybe it is :)

    yea it says it in all programs, but still it should not take 10 mins 2 rite 200mb

    A full CD is between 650-700MB, not 200MB.

    10mins wouldn't be strange, I don't think.

    it takes bout 18 min to rite a full cd and 10 to rite 200mb and i thought it should rite faster then that?

    With my old 4x writer, it took 20mins to write a full 650meg cd
