I was just watching the late late show and a guy was on who made a speed optimizer program. Apparently it speeds up the internet for people just using a normal phone line and 56k modem by 400%. I'd probably buy this right now if it really works. Does anyone know if these things work, like if I was downloading at 4KBs per…

I'd probably buy this right now if it really works. Does anyone know if these things work, like if I was downloading at 4KBs per second would it now be 16KBs per second?

Seems like a load of bollox to me..
Download accelater does the exact same thing.. but in reality u can make it go down the friggin line faster than 56k no matter what software u use..
Basically its down to the line really..

Maybe you could compress the data before its sent down your Phoneline. Server-side compression or something.

Some sites do that, for example, boards gzips pages quite a bit before you download each page, and then your browser knows how to unzip it. Its rather clever.
