I apologise in advance to the mods if this is in the wrong area but since it about a book and if people think it should be a movie. Also I wanted the opinion of people who know movies.

If you have read Raymond E. Fiest’s “The Magician” you will know what I am talking about. But my question is:

For all you people who watch movies all the time and know good movies
Would it make a good picture?

If done right and with a decent budget, yeah - definitely. I'd love to see it....

LOTR shows that epic books can be made into movies.

If done in a similar fashion to LotR it could, same with the whole krondor series tho, Id love to see it on the Big screen, but I cant see it topping the books.

The Wheel Of Time books by Robert Jordan would make a good series of films.

I love that book but you'd be able to split just this one book into Three films! I'd hate to see it butchered into just a 3hours and as its not half as well known as LOTR you could be certain it would be.:(

    Good christ no they wouldn't.

As for Magician you'd need two 3 hour movies to do it, 1 up to the point pug is taken then another for all the Kelewan stuff. I reckon it would be quite good as long as whoever was doing it didn't have too much respect for the books and cut with abandon.

I'd love to see an attempt to turn An Ian M Banks book into a film. Now that's good sci fi, and make be a gap with the possible demise of Star Trek.

“The Magician” - must add this to my to read list!

Ian Banks' books are mindbending anarchist pseudonazicommie propaganda and should be banned by all right-thinking humanoids everywhere and forever.

Other than that, Use of Weapons would make a grand filum, what with the nonlinear plot and an ending straight out of the freezer.:D

If they didnt cut out most of it you could make 12 hours of films easily, would drag on too much for a film tho, so 2 3 hour films would do :)
