checking NIC's

    Is there any software you can get to check weather a NIC is 10mb or 100mb. Either on the pc or over the network.

    In Win2k and WinXp, if you double click on the 'LAN Connection' in Network and Dial up connections, you can see the speed is listed.

    we have a large netwrok here. A lot of the machines are win nt 4. Just need something small that can test the NIC and give us what speed they are. We are doing an upgrade.

    from the command prompt try: winmsd /f
    that'll create a file called computername.txt..
    which contains a lot of system information... and should definitely have the network speed.
    /a is an even more detailed report..
    ye can chuck that in the login script for the users and redirect it to a main logfile on a server if you want (">> \\server\logs\blah.txt").
