Before I say this please be warned that this is of your own accord and in the event of any problems with your phone dont go blaming me:)
Right there has been a rumour going round all day about this.Apparently all the message centre phone numbers end in "000".The theory goes that if you enter the section of your phone which has the message centre number on it,that you delete the last zero, leaving two zeros. You then add a star to the end leaving your message centre number ending"00*".Then you send at least seven text messages(god knows why 7) and you get a 10 euro top up.It is apparently because of the recent technical problems that O2 have been having, such as texts arriving weeks after being sent.
How do you access the message centre section on a Nokia 3210?I know I have seen it before but I cant find it.

I would strongly advise you write down your original message centre number so it can be re-entered when O2 realise whats happening. And as I said dont blame me if this fuks up anything.

But firstly does anybody know of any truth in this?

am sounds like a big joke but if i had enough credit i wud send 7 msgs now prob. i'll top up later and tell ye how i get on but i'm sure it won't work. But if it does i think we shud keep it quiet not to let o2 hear

by the way, i entered the * in (+353868002000*) and sent 1 msg and received it so that number still works. I unfortuntally got no credit left till later.
am but it still works with the *. It must do something if it sends/receives. interesting

Oh HELLO. It's bullsh1t. Stop perpetuating this rubbish on here.
When have O2 had "recent technical problems"? I haven't had any problems at all. Use your brain. They'd tell people if they were offering compensation.

    And why 7 texts?

This is OBVIOUSLY a scam. Think before you post!

I 'think' you should think before 'you' post. O2 have had much publicised (Freedom FM, Spin 1038) technical difficulties over the last number of weeks. These relate to problems with 086=>087 texts.

I am not sure whether 087 has had the same problems with 087=>086 so i will not comment on this.

It has already been established in another thread that this +35386800200* had been allowing O2 users to send free texts for a number of days but this issue has now been resolved by O2.

There is no need to be so dismissive and un-mannerly with regard to other peoples posts.

It was working last night on my 3210, I sent a lot of messages with no credit. It didn't work on a 3310 though I don't know if type of phone has anything to do with it.

Did you even think before you posted this ? How long did you ****ing think the trick/cheat would last if you posted it on a very popular Irish Website.

Have you no friends that you could tell ? I'm sure the milisecond amount of respect you gained for giving something free to boards members was worth it but seriously THINK next time.

This is like one step away from actually ringing o2 and going "Hee Hee Heee I found away around not getting charged for txt messages "

    Indeed

How long did you think it would last once it went on here? I'm sure some O2 people read here.

    Ah well.

    Careful guys,

Everything you do with your Phone is recorded. If there is an Issue regarding anything that becomes free and that is not advertised, be asured, it will come out of your credit and perhaps you will go into a negative balance, so I would advise caution before abusing this loophole.

Yellum-Who do you think I asked first? My friends or some strangers on a website? After hearing the rumour FROM friends I proceeded to text the people in my phone book who have nokias to see how to access this.Enough of the muppetry. And do you think that it would matter posting it here?Seeing as half the country knows something about it already I would presume it all started with a chain email.

Can you actually read more than one sentence without skipping the rest and promptly passing opinion?Part of my post was in order to find pout how to do this on a 3210,seeing as nobody in the strange land that is outside the confines of boards.ie seemed to know how.

Honestly,if you want to be a gobsh1te fcuk off. This was fairly common knowledge before I posted. What are the chances that one of the 224 people who viewed this thread are going to tip off O2?
    Grow up:rolleyes:

I'd agree with Mutz. I remember getting free phone calls with my 087 phone before, but then it was fixed, and a few weeks later I found myself with a sizable deduction in my credit.

I agree with yellum tbh, if you find a loophole like this then don't tell EVERYONE you KNOW about it! It'll just mean o2/vodafone find out even quicker what you're up to.

I remember o2 had some glitch a few years ago and I thought I wasn't being charged for texts, then a few days later my balance had gone down dramatically because i'd been sending loads of texts thinking I wasn't being charged.

At the end of the day there's no such thing as a free lunch and the phone companies are usually one step ahead of you, we're not in some kind of 2600 magazine fantasy land here guys.

    hey Gopher

I posted the Same thing Yesterday in Net / comms and got slaughtered But what can I say this in a Board and as such we share information with others. weither it be true or Not ..........alot of stuff that is posted on this forum comes from no background knowledge when a large proportion of my village where texting like hell for free.

The moral of the story is think before you try to do someone a favour and try not get egg in your face
