I will be visiting Malaysia for a month or so at the end of January, I know I can stay in Malaysia for 3 months without a visa but I also plan to visit Thailand for a week. Does anyone know if an Irish citizen requires a visas to travel in Thailand for a week?

you will be given a visa form to fill out on entry to Thailand - it's only a formality, a week is fine

You get the visa at the airport when you arrive to Thailand, I think it is only valid for a month (I was there for 3 weeks), if you want to stay longer you can have extension while you are there :)
