This video footage purports to be the gunsight view of an American AC-130 gunship targetting a compound, and its inhabitants and vehicles, in Afghanistan. Complete with battlefield audio.

Its about 5mb in size.

WOW....it's almost surreal the way they seem to think they are playing a video game. I actually laughed when the guy in the plane shouted "headshot.." - does that make me a bad person..

Goes to show why it's costing them so much. Firing a 150mm cannon at one wounded soldier? That sounds a bit thick to me. Still cool watchin the evil feckers get what they deserve!

tbh all this stuff is happening at christmas anyway, and this is what these people are having to deal with in the season "of peace and joy" :rolleyes:

least it goes to show what really goes on in this world (im still yet to watch the vid but will comment on it later, but ive seen plenty of things like this before...)

As well as being a little sickened I found the whole thing terribly unsporting.

I'm just imagining being one of those little running dots and not have any idea how absolutely helpless I was and how little chance of escape I had.

but do people who need food and clothes win elections?

As for the AC-130, its a very effective bit of kit when total air superiority is there but situations like that are not too common. that thing would have to be in pretty close to be effective and as such would be very vunerable to shoulder fired AA missiles. the fact that its main targets are what would be considered "soft", trucks, small unfortified positions, ammo/fuel dumps etc. show that it is just a show-piece. Its just what CNN wants to show during war coverage.
