Are thermal compounds dangerous?

Im just wondering as Ive had 2 rather strange experiences, both of which were quite similar.

First time I was working on a cards heatsink and chiped some of the hard thermal compound, soon after I felt dizzy, light headed and began shaking slightly.

The second time i was putting a fan on the same card and the same thing happend, my arms felt quite heavy and muscles were contracting for no apparent reason.

Anyone know what could have caused this.

If it's adhesive thermal compound then it could be evaporating solvent. Otherwise an allergic reaction of some kind possibly?

It was an older card with a hard thermal compound, no liquids at all.

Does anyone know what common thermal compounds are actually made of?

I think most are made of a silacon (spell) compound.
