Lastest Carmack work log shows the following little nugget:

Now me having run a few development projects in my time, I would assume that the development of the game is basically complete and they'll be prolly testing towards a final release soon. Then again I might be wrong....don't think so, I wouldn't be surprised to see the demo and the final game released around the same time, in less than a month.
