Philippe Troussier has confirmed that the Republic of Ireland have approached him about becoming their next coach.

But the Frenchman - who led Japan at the World Cup finals - insisted he will rush into making a decision.

I'm guessing they meant "he will NOT rush into..." judging by the rest of the article.

    .... who ?

it would be nice to have a coach like troussier who developed Japan from group whooping boys of wc 98 into a team of steely determination in 2002 who set out to win things. great coach indeed.
plus he's passionate about his football. it could be a nice change aswell to develop the players from a continental point of view.
this guy can also command respect from his players.

A much better bet than some of the no-hopers like Aldridge that have been mentioned - I'd be happy to see Troussier get it.

The suggestion has potential, I would like to see Kerr as his no 1 too, with an option to him having the managers job in the future.

At least he has some mangerial experience and at International level too unlike our former coach and most of the others named (Rijkard & Kerr the exceptions).

I heart blah blah.. If given time to develop theteam and get rid of dead weight, possibly close the door on some of the no hopers then the Ireland team could go far. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
