And that time of the year rolls on again where i have to save my hard earned money to get people presants in the hope i get some off of them. The problem is, what do you get the people that have everything? Infact, wtf can i get people full stop!

Ideas are hard to come by, but in the end i always think of something to get that is right for the recipient and usually results in last miniut buying! Argos never ammounts to anything good, as I dont want to get my dad a 10 euro ring stamped with "dad" made out of plastic with gold marker on it that would suit the naff version of Tony Montana...

What are you getting people for Christmas?

    reD.

I amazingly got some presents just recently, I usually do it the very last possible minute. I got some cool books for the family, not sure what else to get though.

    Anyway...
    Books
    Music
    Subscriptions to magazines maybe
    Food
    Sweet food

It's so difficult because a present is something from you to them, it's not something that has to be given because it is the law.

Give them something that makes you think of them, give them something that makes them think of you. Give them something that only you could make. Write a song on your guitar and record it for them. Give them something that they have been talking about previously.

(If you are worried about what to get me, just give me money! :p)

I agree, its so obvious wen someone gives u a present that they didnt really put much thought into.. Like a cd or perfume!! Oh and vouchers, its like they cudnt have been bothered to even look around the shops.. If its someone special u shud do something really romantic for them.. They'll remember it forever.. Aaw! (",)

    Books
    Videos
    Sweets
    Gadgets
    Music
The usual cheap fragrances from Boots :)

I think that something with a bit of humour or mistery is the best type of present.

For example i used to have a hamster and my nanny loved it to bits!! Especially with the hamster would be running around in its little ball thingy.. So we got my nanny a hamster + ball thingy and gave her the ball thingy first!
When she opened the ball she was confused for about 3 seconds and then the jumped with excitment coz she knew she had a hamster! That was possibly the best presant ever... Untill we found out that she was allergic to the ****ing thing then she gave it to my uncle who killed it with a fire poker because the hamster got out of the ball thing and ran towards his kid...

Funny but true :) So no hamster for my nanny - any other ideas other than a pasemaker?

this year I've asked santa (an anogram of satan bty) for an AK-47 of which there are pleanty of in circulation what with IRA disarmament, and I'm gonna head for the lift in the GPO.
Blame the producers of Christmas music. They are the scourge of the planet.

I beg to differ - I think vouchers are a great present. No matter how well you know a person, and no matter how much thought you put into it, you still risk getting them something they already have or something that you might think is ace but in reality completely sucks. It also gives them an opportunity to shop!

You're wrong. Giving somebody a gift voucher is the exact same as giving them money except you're limiting them to only spend it in ONE shop, plus u dont get any change? oh what a GREAT GIFT!!
It also shows you couldn't be bothered to think of a meaningful gift for them

How about if your significant other (who has no idea of computer games at all) decides that buying you a computer game would be a good idea?

Would you prefer to be stuck with the ****e game that he/she brings home , or would you prefer to take the voucher and get the game that you want?

that's just and example, there are lots of times that vouchers are much better than buying the actual pressie.

My significant other knows me well enough to determine if i'd like a particular game or not..
and tbh even if i didn't like the game it would be better receiving it on christmas day than a piece of paper that says €50 or whatever on it..

i suggest making presents yourself, it works great, saves u a bit of cash and makes the whole thing seem personal. like last year i gave this girl i know, like, a plant pot made from fondont, and a flower in there, and on the flower had a picture of me on it, it was pretty cool, and then i gave this guy a picture i drew of his dog, but then i realised he didnt have a dog, so i rubbed out the ears and told him it was him, he believed me, i was very pleased with myself. ive already collection material for this years xmas pressies. old milk cartons, and egg cups, and scrape metal, its all pretty useful stuff.

And remember, its one present they cant exchange for money.

quite the opposite here. it's what my sister is demanding. this saves me the hassle of thinking what to get and it is very easy to obtain. none of those crowds on the streets etc. etc. last year i got her call credit for her phone and she was delighted

I thoroughly agree with this one. I'm giving my Ma a dog made out of a cornflakes box and old egg shells. It's fantastic!
My girlfriend will be getting a necklace made out of frozen peas and strands of my hair. Thrifty!
