Doubt it. They're locked to help the network justify the subsidy they put on the phone when selling it. So letting you use it on any other network including Vodafone UK would be of no benefit to them so I doubt it.

It will only be locked if you buy a ready-to-go/speakeasy

    bill fones are not locked

teh RTG fones are cause because they are subsidised, so you have to pay xx amount before it can be unlocked

bill fones are unlocked as they are .. well billed!! ie cause your paying a bill you are contracted to taht network

otherwise you will have load of people buy RTG phones for cheap (as phones cost more than the price we pay)

well it was like that when I worked for eircon - sorry com

it is perfectly legal to get your fone unlocked by teh dudes on the streets/buy and sell

but I dunno what unlocking kits they have

these fones cannot be unlocked at the minute m8, so looks like i only have one that is locked to vodafone.

    Ahh well not to worry!!!!!!!!!

    thanks

That particular phone is exclusive to vodafone.. it can't be unlocked and it can't be used on any other networks

Do you mean if you buy a sharp gx-10 on vodafone RTG they will never unlock it so you can use it on another network?

Well my bill phone certainly was not unlocked, I tried many different sim cards from esat and meteor in it, no go.

As far as I know Vodafone lock all phones in their Ready to Go range and bill phones that appear in their Ready to Go range.

i.e Nokia 3410 will be locked whether you buy a bill phone or a RTG phone but a Nokia 8310 won't because it's not in their RTG range.

Meteor lock all apparently, but dunno about O2 though.

    Hope this helps.
