I'm curious what would the admins of boards.ie do if the government gave them a million euro with the aim of developing a home for Irish users, ie what yer doing now. This kinda got inspired when someone said dublin.ie had recieved a million yoyos from the government to set up a their site. Tempting as it may be doing a legger with the cash isn't an option because the our ever diligent government officials will have a close eye on ye.

You really shouldnt give us money. We're like winos and bums, you know we'll just spend it on a binge. Coke and hookers being our favourite.

I mean, do we strike you as responsible upstanding citizens?

I dunno. Noone needs a million quid to build a home for Irish Internet users.... thats just dumb. Take the 1 million quid and give 900,000 of it to house the homeless on our streets. Take 50,000 of it and hire boards.ie to do the job.

Give me the other 50K, I like those expensive hookers...

    DeV.

What would Boards.ie do with €50,000 to promote on-line communities in Ireland?

Government bodies seme to be making a mess of it - apart from Dublin.ie does anyone remember the Dept Communications consultation on Free to air Sports on TV?

Does this raise issues in the context of a draft charter? I wonder is accepting government money the same as private sector sponsorship?
