    hey guys,

just wondering if anyone has any ideas/experience on ways/means/packages for monitoring internet traffic and for controlling bandwidth (ie. restricting web access to certain users, certain times of the day, etc, etc.) ??

even just using trafshow can tell you a lot about what's going on

I use mrtg (*nix) to monitor switches and machines at work. You can monitor things such as network load, cpu load...possibly disk load (but I'm not sure about that one). It's fairly straightforward to use and it makes pretty graphs of traffic today, this week, this month...etc.

    Just for monitoring though.

    Monitoring : MRTG

Limiting: Try mod_throttle You can setup your rules per virtual host etc., (if that's what you're looking for)
