Has anyone recently got an email from "TrafficMagnet.com", trying to promote their crappy service? They (or their stinking automatic crawler software) seem to think boards.ie is "my" website?
    Hi

I visited www.boards.ie, and noticed that you're not listed on some search engines! I think we can offer you a service which can help you increase traffic and the number of visitors to your website.

    Yeah. Right. Fuck off, spamwhores.

Yeah, they are idiots. I dunno where they get the email addresses from because

    a. I'd suck my own eyeballs out then hand our list over to anyone.

    b. We've set up a few "trap" accounts to see if they are harvesting them somehow and they dont get these mails.

We've also had mails being sent "purporting" to be from Boards but actually they are sent through open relays and disguised as being from us. They arent.

If anyone gets anything like this please let us know.

    DeV.

I had one waiting for me this morning too. Replied saying I had nothing to do with boards.ie (if it makes any difference) and then followed the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page.

Do you have boards.ie webspace with pages that contain your e-mail address on it? Or posted any posts containing your e-mail address contained? If so a bot of some sort has probably crawled the site and nabbed the info :/

Perhaps they're sifting through the members' webspace and picking up the email addys from there. Hence the 'I visited your site at www.boards.ie' line?
