Just booked a few days away in brussels in jan with ryanair. Flights cost EUR 80 for two adults. Am staying in the Astrid hotel which is 400m away from Grand Place. Cost of a twin room for 3 nights is EUR 240.

Anybody know how much beer/food/nightclub entry is in brussels and where/wherenot to go ?

Have read Bards previous post from a while back but need some more info.

    cheers.

brussels, capitol city of Belgium..but not our best one :)
depends on how long you stay in Belgium but you can easily move around the country with the train.
I suggest you visit Antwerp or Brugge or Ghent..much nicer cities.
Brussel itself is only dangerous in the metro's after dark and only when you hit the wrong spot....
as in the movies 'dont make wild arm movements, don't stare them in the eyes...ETC..
remember that the clubs stay open for a long time so dont rush yourself drinking :) (seen too many Brist and irish stumble home just after 12.oclock )
the Entry fee is dependable on the club you goto...but in Belgium the entry fee is mostly meant to keep the low lifes away.

goto Cafe danvers :) best place in Antwerp and you can take the train in the morning back to your hotel :)
In ghent goto 'Damberd' (my local Jazzclub pub,)
Brugge is just a medivial city and kept that way..impressive.

    Have fun

Have been in Brussels twice (my brother lived/worked there for 3 years). Its a lovely place.

I found the Grand Place amzing, everytime I past through it I saw something even more spectacular. A pub I recommend ya visit is Le Cruciel (think its spelt something like that), it is just off the Grand Place, the name translated to english means the coffin. Its a mad pub. All the table are open coffins, with glass over then. Coffin doors hang from the walls, and they play really freaky music.

The best part is they serve you up beer in a skull type mug!! Go see it for yourself. Its a cool little spot.

Also, try get to the Irish pub in Schuman called "The Wild Geese". Its lovely. And such a typical irish styled pub. Then if you are flying with Ryanair, you will be taken from the airport (outside Brussels) by bus and dropped at this pub.

Finally, with the metro and that it is so easy to move about. The is no place too far away to see. I recommend taking a train to other cities like Wook has mentioned, or be real bold and head to Paris if ya have the time to spare.

    Enjoy your trip!!!!

The Ryanaid bus stop is no longer at the Wild Geese, it's at the train station so don't get caught!

I'd recommend tapas - there's a great place neat the Grand Place. And we ended up in The Bazaar - which had to be the best pub I have EVER been in. There's no signs, and it looks just like a row of two up two downs from the outside - but inside. It's on Rue Des Capuchin.
