hi, my brother lives in cardiff, he wants to watch RTE1, NEt2, Tv3, TNG on SKY as I do here in Waterford. He already has SKY set up, I have told him he needs an Irish system installed , registered and subscribed from here and ship it over there, he would however only get what I get on it, ie no S4C, HTV etc - am I right- is there another way- i understand that RTE etc is not Free tto air. Thanks for an amazing service / web site- well done all, kev

He could always get an FTV Card from the BBC to get S4c and HTV.

I am sure that would get around the problem.

Yes you are correct the only way to get RTE is to get an Irish Subscription.

If you also have sky, why not swap boxes and cards? You get all the good UK stuff (five terrestrials, BBC Choice, Four, Cbeebies, CBBC, News 24, all the BBC radios (incl 5Live), ITV2, S4C Digidol, and he gets the Irish Channels.

If each of you stick up a terrestrial aerial you will get any channels you lose with this arrangement. He can also get a second box with a FTV card if he wishes.

Just remember to never tell Sky, never connect to the phone line, and agree to sort out subscriptions, especially if you want different line-ups.

He could just get an Irish card without going to the trouble of installing a box, as long as he has access to an Irish address that does not already have Sky it should work. E mail me I'd be happy to help

I can confirm that it can be done with Irish Card only but the card has to be activated "paired" with box or you won't get RTE, Net2, TV3 or TG4.
Sky'll expect this to happen by callback on Installer's Menu which doesn't work from UK. Can be done by phone but not that straightforward.

    Good luck!
