Hey people, I am planning on moving to Canada next summer but i have no idea how to go about getting accomodation and work and anything else i need. Has anyone ever stayed in Toronto and can help me how to go about it?

For starters you could try Canada.com - should have one of the Toronto daily papers which should have accomodation and employment classifieds. If it doesn't, try the Globe and Mail, another big Toronto paper.

If you are considering emigrating, better make sure you've got your landed immigrant paperwork all done... it can take a while to get it all approved, so be warned.

Any other questions just ask (we moved to Vancouver a couple of years back so we've been through the same sort of thing)

did you have to have a job sorted before you got immigration approved - just wondering as I am thinking of going over.

Yeah, I had a job sorted out before we left Ireland - our situation was a bit different though as despite having lived the best part of my life in Ireland I am also a Canadian citizen (long story). My better half is Irish, and we did have to sort out a heap of immigration stuff for her.

I think it makes it easier if you have a job already organised... Canadian immigration will grant a temporary work permit while your landed immigrancy is being processed. (And you might even be able to convince your employer to pay for the whole thing)
