BUPA vs VHI

    Hi all,

I'm renewing my health insurance and wanted to see if anyone had any comments on these 2. I'm currently on VHI plan B, but considering switching to BUPA Essential Plus (very similiar plan).

Looking at it, BUPA looks about 200yoyo cheaper (p.a.).

Has anyone had any problems with BUPA, or any strong argument against joining them?

    Cheers,
    Al.

In a similar situation to yourself, but am DEFINITELY moving over to BUPA next renewal, cheaper and better services. MAny of my colleagues have already changed over and no complaints.

Question on this too, i'm in the lucky position that I don't have to pay for my health insurance so in this situation is Bupa Essential Plus or VHI Plan B better? I would opt with Bupa if I was paying myself cos its cheaper but are there a few extras in the VHI plan?

Am with VHI myself as work pay for it but I am considering switching partner and Son to Bupa. It is cheaper, it has better service, they pay more per visit and if I recall correctly have a lower excess to reach before they pay out on gps/physios etc...

As an aside, and I may start a new thread on this, was reading the times a couple of weeks ago and there was a piece on the "Hospital Saturday Fund" who ypu can get in conjunction with Health insurance, they pay out for everything and actually encourage you to claim (obviously not fraudulently) and then pay out within 5 days of getting the claim.

Website is here , check it out..

I'm with vhi and hsa. The hsa is quite good, group rate of about €5 p/w. The idea behind it is to put cash into your hand, not to pay all your bills. It covers the usual suspects like gp, physio etc but also grants for births and payments for each night spent in hospital. I think they also payout lump sums if say you lose an arm. Not bad for €260 a year!

Do any of these cover dental? I'm on VHI, and I just forked out £300 for treatment!
