    From fai.ie ;
    In response to reports that Mick McCarthy and FAI officials are due to meet this week to discuss the manager's future, the FAI would like to state that it is in regular contact with McCarthy, and so far, the manager has not requested any meeting.

    If the manager, who is in Ireland this week, does wish to meet any officials, his request will be accommodated.

    In the meantime, the FAI and manager will continue finalising arrangements for the friendly international against Greece in Athens on November 20. McCarthy has always insisted that the forthcoming game, and February's clash with Scotland, were vital for Ireland's European Championship qualification hopes because, otherwise, the squad would not have a game together until next March's trip to Tblisi to face Georgia.

    Of course, they could still meet, but its a bit too short notice for them to meet this week..

    Yeah but how much of what they tell us should we believe. he spoke in detail about Keane and the current setup last night on 5live, and the general gist was that he wants to find out from the players if the negative media focus on him is actually directly harming their performance, and if it is then he will step down.

    What is Damien Duff going to tell him?

    "Yeah Mick, youre a ****e manager and I think you should go. And if you stay, then ive pretty much exorcised myself from the squad".

    Mick knows he can intimidate them into telling him that hes a class one manager - none of them spoke up when McCarthy was laying into Keane and vice versa so where are they suddenly going to find some guts from?

    Well we'll just have to see. I wouldn't rule it out, the results have been terrible and the players should be hurting now if they have any pride.

    Phone each player up seperately and ask them their opinion. Sounds like that idea was though up by the same man who questions his captain in front of his squad.

    Bully.
