You could always use ICQ sms, that way you can get replies.

I cannot get ICQ to deliver to 086. The message is sent fine, but never arrives.

Is this feature currently working for others?

Yeah, ICQ is very handy for SMS though you are limited to 10-15 SMS per day. THe log is also handy as it don't run out of space unlike fone inbox.

OT: What way does Nokia fones organise messages? They don't seem to be listed in any sensible order.

I still cannot send an sms despite downloading and reinstalling the latest version of icq.

Would one of you mind just doing a little test for me: could you send me a test message to 086 2329384 , and maybe to another 086 mobile, so i can figure out if it's an O2 problem, a problem with my number, or a problem with my icq.

    Thanks,

    Ro

putting your mobile number on the internet isn't the smartest thing in the world to do!

Cool, after seeing this thread I got icq and it's actually excellant for sms messages. But I did a test just there to see what it's like and send a text to two phones. It reached one and not the other, so I hope it's not constantly dodgy.

And you've made it worse by quoting his entire message.

That's a good point, does anyone have an answer for that?

Did you drop the 0 in 086/087 when sending it via ICQ?

Thanks for all your concern about my high-risk behaviour, posting my mobile number. If you really want to see real loose canons, check out esato.com/board - thousands of unsuspecting mobile-number-posters.

Anyway, thanks for your help so far, but I still cannot send an sms. Has anyone tried to send me a test yet?

What versions of icq are you all using?

Can you send sms from the icq site? (I can't)

    Ro

I don't think mtnsms can send to 087 though. Also, it's not free any more

I remember Oxygen used to give like 20/30 free text msg's a week. That was great and i use it all the time. U would get the replies straight to your phone. Now they r donw, and have been donw for about 6months or some, does anybody know what the story is? Also does anybody know a decent free web text place(aside from icq, o2, vodafone)

    yes i can :)

eircsson phones have a plug in for outlook.you need a supported ericsson phone,a data cable and the software(comes with the phone)

after that it's just a matter of clicking new and selecting new text message. works a treat aswell..outlook pulls your new txt's into the inbox
