Yes for example why do Irish licence holders have to pay $ky to watch RTE1.NET2,TV3 and TG4 on satelite? whereas in the UK you can get a free to view card to watch the BBC,ITV and Ch 4 for FREE!!!!.
Very interested in that topic and if you will discuss it please say when.
    Regards JD!!!! Belgium

I would like to see raised is the BBC/ITV issue.... the lack of BBC extra digital channels, no UTV or Channel 4 on Irish Sky Digital subscriptions..

Newstalk, if you have time, read all 29 pages :) of the "campaign" thread at the start of the Satellite board here.

Thats what I want to hear raised.

Why the delay in introducing the mirror subscription (and Sky+)?

I agree wholeheartedly. Sky charge us a fortune for channels with ads every 12 minutes !! And HTF do you guys afford to pay for it?!!

As Mark Lamarr said last night on Never Mind The Buzzcocks", if you find yourself suffering from poverty, a good solution is to go out and get some money. :D:D:D

Yes, well I have come from North originally and fairly fed up with RTE's agressive attidude regarding Terrestrial picture quality in Co. Clare / Co. Limerick
In the past 20 years I have NEVER had a decent quality Irish TV picture. I have now paid Irish TV licence for longer than UK one.

Why do we *STILL* have what the BBC would regard as "fringe area" level of Quality (Prior to moving South I was a BBC Comms Engineer).

The Sky pictures are *NOT* as good as *Best* quality Analog PAL, but most of the channels make local terrestrial reception look like rubbish. The same is true of my two analog Satellite receivers. I can get ZDF, BR Alpha, RAI, TV5, DW TV etc EVEN in ANALOG better than RTE.

I even subscribe to Knowledge Pack. (Since When is CNX and SKY1 Educational?). But NO RTE via Satellite.

Lets get our OWN public broadcaster on a FTV card scheme like almost every other tiny nation in the World with Satellite TV has, and then worry about BBC.

Or maybe given current level of quality in CONTENT, WE SHOULD CLOSE RTE and give the Irish Licence fee to BBC!

Well, it is conker season, so someone has to shake the tree. :)

I hear the points about reception, watty, but the other points would be shot down by the arguments that I put up in the past, and I only agree to them now, as they are responces to questions I have posed to broadcasters and content providers down the years.

If Newstalk get back onto us, if they are still interested (and I hope they are) we want a debate that is copper-bottomed, and unlikely to unravel. This forum is also used to educate and inform people of the TV industry, its streghths and its weaknesses.

So, for the likes of Newstalk 106, we need an argument to put to Sky and the likes that doesnt leak. Issues like FTA card for Ireland and suchlike can be dismissed. Issues like the sudden dissappearence of the ITV News Channel, cant be.
