Love THTV although the first series edges the second maybe because you've seen the mobile joke a 1,000 times before and alot of the gags are repeated.

it gets old very quick very fast

Thats exactly what Dom Jolly thought so they'll be no more...oh well. Great use of music though.

    Mike.

The show has some really classic gags in it. When it started it was the funniest thing on telly. It did get old fast due to repetition though. Can't but respect Dom Jolly for realising that and killing the show accordingly. The cast of Friends could learn a lot from that.

Completely agree about it getting old.

Have you seen the repeats on rte? The makers obviously werent willing to clear the copyright music for international sales, so they have replaced all the good music with poor library tracks. Even the Elastica tune on the credits has been replaced by a sound-a-like. Its incredible how much this detracts from the show.

Thats crazy Dustaz, the whole point of what Jolly was doing, the old "laugh and cry at the same time" shtick, is undermined by removing the contrasting sad, pathos-filled music. RTE should'nt have bothered.

    Mike.

Sorry but I always thought THTV was awful.Practically nobody takes any notice of his pranks, which isnt suprising as they arent especially funny. This is not how you fool the public to maximum effect.
The best fool the public sh1t was on Dont Feed the Gondalas, especially the ones where Brendan O Connor would pretend to be a psychotic taxi driver, scaring the sh1t out of passengers. It was the funniest thing on tv at the time.THTV is really crap in comparison.

"Timmy, tell mammy that its my turn to drive the taxi tonight!!!"
Ad trying to rev up the car
"Brrrruuuuummm!!!!!!Wan ya hoooooor!Wan da fock!!!Brrrrruuuummmmmm!!!!!Wan ya stupid bitch!!!!"

THTV suffers from the Fast show writing format (ie that they think the same joke will be funner if its replayed in 50 different contexts). That is enough for me to discount it as a good show.

    But it is funnier!

Have to agree with that. If your going to repeat a joke, you have to do it fifty times and not just 3 times before it becomes funny again.

The simpsons built its success on this.

I thought it was funny when they... eh...

    when they... um...

    when they...

    erm...

    ah...

    I'll get me coat.

I was just talking about this today, I agree that its hilarious the first 2 times, but then the jokes start getting old fast. They should end it now or change it completely (would it still be Trigger Happy TV then?)

i love the one where this guy goes in for a job interview, and his sitting waiting, and people dressed up an animals keep passing him by, and when he finally goes into the interviewing room, the table is full of people dressed up as animals

also the snail crossing the road

i saw a program similar to it on an airplane once, one of the gags had people stopped in their cars at barriers (you know the ones u have to pay to go though, or get a ticket for)

anyway, a guy would crouch down by the side of their cars, thump their car, and get up and run away with a tyre he already had with him. People though that he'd just nicked their tyres and their rxn's were hilarious!
