Nice one Tony, just rang the sis to try the Irish digibox, sadly still getting the usual 08 screen. I cant try my FTV box at present... any other eyewitnesses?

I was reading Media UK forums and spotted that apparently the channel labelled 2-7 (or 3-7) had ITV2 on it. I didn't find it though! I only tuned in the FTA channels and 2-7 and ITV2 werent listed. Now I must try sussing how to manual tune my Manhattan!

    HI everyone,
I rang ITV today regarding ITV2 in Ireland on SKY. I was told, it wasnt available, and it was unlikely to change. ITV2 was a British channel being the reason. For our campaign, I got the email address, dutyoffice@itv.co.uk The guy I was talking to said those emails would come through to him.
    Cheers
    Dave

Apparently it's only available on a free-to-air digital satellite receiver, not on a Sky digibox (either Irish or British).

    Shame really.

Ah, it's 3-7! Thanks for that. Dunno if I could be bothered pulling out my systems again to swap the LNB feeds!

Yeah, you're right! But these things require big sums of money!! I am not in a position to rob the Central Bank just yet! :D

I am wondering whether to get a monoblock or get some way of getting 3 LNB's on the arm! Don't even know the model number of the Triax dish I have.

From what I've heard, ITV2 has been free to view on a regular basis for those with a digital satellite receiver which isn't a Sky Digibox. It's quite possible that they've set a Videoguard "tag" which encrypts the channel if the presence of a Videoguard CAM is present, something similar to the Videocrypt tag that MTV Germany had in the dying days of Sky Analogue. The usual option there if it was possible was to go into the menus and switch the decoder off!

excellent analogy with MTV videocrypt. I agree with your conclusions, nice one

Sky digiboxes are programmed so that they will be unable to decrypt any feeds of subscription channels that are accidendtly unencrypted.Of course there are execpetions(past freebies have included Sky Sports,Disney and,for half an hour only,Playboy:) )but the vast majority of signals going out accidendtly unencrypted cannot be viewed on the sky digibox. For example theere are irregular freebies on FTA boxes only of Sky Box Office and the Red Hot porn channels.

Well damnit, I cannot seem to tune in 3-7 at all on my Manhattan! I have 3-6 and 3-8 but not 3-7!! Dunno what's wrong. Can someone give me Audio and Video PID's please? THe feed labelled ITV2 isn't FTA unfortunately!:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,962 ✭✭✭Greenman

I have a Manhatten DSR 2500 APCI and as I write I can see ITV2 on channel 3-7. For your interest the VIDEO PID is 2329 AUDIO PID 2330 and PCR PID 2329.
I hope this is of help.
    Regards JD!!!!.

Scanning the Transponder I now only get
Scottish, Grampian, ITV2, UTV and G54.

The 3-7 has gone..... But it's still working
Since the listed ones have service ID 10210 to 10240 in steps of 10 with incrementing PIDs.
The "missing" 3-7 is Service ID 10260, PIDs Video 2329 and Audio 2330, so I surmised Service ID 10250 Video 2324 and Audio 2325 exists. It does. It is ITV-2 also.

(I opened my stations file in Notepad and manually entered the line since the software has no method of adding stations if they arn't found in a scan).

So how many other "hidden" stations are there not showing on scans?

Why have TWO FTA ITV-2 on same transponder as the "real" ITV-2?

Are the ITV channels really encrypted? Are the ones found by scanning "dummys" and there are real unencrypted ones out there that the "Sky epg system" tells the Digibox the VPIDs and APIDs of?

I'm raving and don't have a clue what I'm talking about. I'll have to mop up the foam from the keyboard now....

As I said on mediaUK, I still have to figure out how to just add ONE channel to my lineup on my Skyline! I can tune in all satellite, NIT or TP but I don't seem to be able to just Add ONE channel (with relevant PIDs)! Anyone with a Manhattan?? Tis doing my nut in.... :(

I too can receive this second ITV2 channel by using video pid 2329 and audio pid 2313 on my manhatten 2500apci.
However when i try to store, all i can get is a black screen. Prior to pressing STORE the channel is there in the clear. Anyone with a Manhatten receiver tell me how to get around this problem please? Would it be anything to do with the PCR PID ?

Not sure. But are you not entering PCR PID? The PCR PID is the same as the Video PID - 2329. Other than that, I'm flummoxed!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 ejhearn

The channel is there when i enter those figures. However, after storing the channel., the encyption flag is apparent and a blank screen.
