Toasted 3 cds now using Roxio. I have Mandrake 8.1 iso images and created =>cd hard disk image with file type iso. Then =>Record from HD image using iso. The file created on cdr is Mandrake81-cd1-inst.i586 which is not bootable. Whats up. I never used this software before but with a google I appear to be doing it right?

(took this from the debian faqs)

    Adaptec/Roxio Easy-CD Creator
From the File menu, choose Create CD from image.... Then select the ".iso" file type, and the correct image. This opens up the CD creation setup GUI, from there ensure that all the information for your CD-R is correct. In the Create options portion, choose Create CD; under Write method, choose Track at once and Close CD.

    Hope this helps,

Tried it again. Only thing I can see that was wrong was I didn't close the track. Another coaster! Think I will try Nero or is it possible to extract the iso and upgrade from Mandrake?

    1. The BIOS on your computer doesn't support booting from the CD (if it's more than, say, three years old, this is a real possibility)
    2. Easy CD Creator is making a mess of the burning. Try Nero. It's the best CD burning software on the market bar none - the learning curve is slightly steeper, but it's well worth it.

You're really better off, in my humble opinion, sticking with the automated boot process off the CD - it'll be more straightforward in the long run

Hmm... think that FAQ maybe wrong. AFAIK, all iso images must be burned using DAO (Disk-At-Once) There are no tracks on an iso image, TAO should be used for audio cds and multisession data cds

I have had problems with iso's that were burned using TAO instead of DAO

Ah ha! Ok give it one more go so. Suppose I can make some dodgy cd clocks and give them out as Christmas presents :-) or as of http://www.spiritone.com/~english/humour/aolcd.html some 101 interesting things to do with them.

Looks like it was a dodgy iso.I tried winiso to extract the files but it gave an error at the end. Pity as I was looking forward to upgrading from 7.2. Mandrake 9 is out at the end of the month so I'll have to bite the bullet and buy it. Thanks anyway for the replys.
