  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

There's one here in Shannon too.

Did Gerry get his last one fixed/replaced without any hassle?

There's one beside Argos (near the Omniplex) in Galway. But for some reason I always prefer to tech offers in Aldi. But I'm sure the 19" monitors in Lidl are fine.

    G'wan Lidl ;)

What would be a good time to start queueing to get a monitor in the blanchardstown lidl ??

    Slaan.

Last time I was getting one of those 19" I arrived at 8:30am and there was a MASSIVE queue.
They wont sell out in Galway by 12pm, id say that there will be 1/2 left over for a few days.

Aldi deals are far better, they are dealing with Medion HERE and so u get some really class stuff (Like my PC!!!!!!!!) havent seen anymore of those deals for ages now, but if LIDL crack out the 19"flat screens then be sure to watch Aldi hit back with more of those 17"LCD's for the EXACT same price....

BTW, the monitor I got in LIDL is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
take care of it and It wont give any hassle...

Well i finally got my monitor today, ther ewas no hassell this time, I just mised out last time i tried to get one but there was no panic in LIDL Blanch today.

It looks great and it has a much smaller foot print than my other 19" so i have more room for my mouse and stuff! At first i thought it wasent a 19" at all till i measured it against my other monirors screen size!

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 3,290 ✭✭✭TomTom

anyone know if there is any left in offaly?
Never got a chance to go in yesterday. Might get in today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,183 ✭✭✭Quigs Snr

Got one yesterday. As of 5pm Saturday 05/10/02 there were 8 left in LIDL New Ross (next to the Dunbrody).

Very nice. 0.25 dot pitch, supports loads of different res, and refresh rates. I'm impressed for the price. They are made by Gericom. I think the tube is by NEC.

Only problem under Win98SE I have to resize and recentre the screen manually when chaning resolutions. Anyone know any way to get around this, I'd be glad to hear it.

PS: I can't believe that a major european supermarket chain like LIDL don't take VISA !

can someone post a pic of the monitors?
    and specs..

    how flat is the screen?
whats its max refresh rate at 1024x768 and 1280x1024?
    colour temp controls?
any other noteworthy OSD controls it has would be handy...

all i know so far is that they are 19" and have 0.25 dot pitch.. :)

    Kali,

    This is what I know.

    Gericom 19" DX-997N

by flat I mean totally flat. (or Pure Flat as it says on the boc)

    I think max res is 1600 x 1200 @75hz

    At 1280 x 1028 I think its 85hz definitely at 1024 x 768 its 85.

Below that I think it can go up as far as 160hz at 640 * 480.

There is a color temp control on it.

In effect it's not Gericom. Its made by Proview and it's just a rebadged Proview DX-997N

You can get the driver for this on www.proview.net, it makes the annoying resizing thing go away.

A poor picture can be found here. Looks better in the flesh tho'.

thats a bit better anyway.. 1024x768@85 is terrible... :)
looks good... better than i thought it would be.

Still have to get my one fixed, perhaps its just the degauss that is broken. I can tell you though that its a 100% flat screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,183 ✭✭✭Quigs Snr

You have to forgive my judgement in this instance Kali, for the past 6 months, I have been using a 15" that cannot go beyond 60hz and no more than 800x600. This in a machine that has an XP2100 and a GF4 Ti4600. Talk about castrating a games machine. 1024 @ 85 seemed fantastic by comparision.

I have tested and it does indeed go to 120hz at this resolution. No more migranes for me !

for now I am stuck at 1024@60Hz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

    That's a nice looking monitor.
And a snip at €240 (unfortunately still being in studentland I don't have a snip) considering the resolution it goes to.
