Man am i even lucky to be able to post this message.

I only got "boards" ip to make sure my settings were working on a test install over the net with debian.

    Anyways..small problem.

Using Slackware and Kongqeror for this.

Basically i can browse the web only if i specify the ip of where i want to go and not the usual "http://www.etc etc" what settings do i need to change to get my routing right.

I am connecting through a gateway on:
    192.168.0.1
    and the DNS are:
    194.168.4.100
    ***.***.8.***

PS: is it possible to format the mbr in unix as Lilo went wonky during install and i can no longer boot into windows as i only get "Li"...and no options now.

    Hope you can help..cya.

If you do a ping www.boards.ie from a shell does it resolve the ip? If not, check your /etc/resolv.conf file to make sure it has the nameserver in it. All lookups are done from this file, so if its in there then it should pick it up everywhere.

    Observe my woes...

How do i change the res in KDE?
I know ctrl+alt+"+" but the refresh rate is too low and the task bar disappears too.

    Thanks for your help.

Sounds like lilo was only half installed. You can edit the lilo.conf in the /etc dir and then run lilo again. It should work though your mileage may vary. Then again it could be Slackware's quality control that prevents you from using an inferior system. ;)
