Passing medical (Drug Test) for a job

I just heard this morning that I have got the job I have been chasing for weeks! I'm really pleased, however I'm very worried about the medical.

Last week I smoked quite a lot of hash, as I thought I had not got the job. I'm not sure when the test is, but I heard that it can take a few weeks for it to get out of your system.

Looking on the net there seems to be quite a few 'wives tales' about how to try to get it out of your system, but who knows what to believe. If this company does find traces, will they simply not give me the job, or what?

I'd appreciate any help.

Since you sa you smoked a lot, it'll take prob around 6-7 weeks for it to stop showing up in your piss, but bear in mind. you don't *have* to take a medical test, but the company may not give you the job if you refuse to take one, "what you got to hide" they'll be thinking

Urine test or hair testing?
If it's urine, read this. If it's hair, the drug will be detectable until the hair grows out. Get a number one blade the day before the test.

Easiest way to get around the urine sample thing is to bring someone else's piss with you. They either ask you to bring a sample with you or let you pee in private so either way it's grand.

Most medicals do not test for drugs they just want to know if you're healthy or not ie are you going to start and then be out for 6-8 weeks every year with a bad back, that sort of thing.

As far as I know they can reserve the right to test your sample for anything in the future if they feel the need. So get some non-drug taking mate to piss in a cup for you. It'll bring you closer together if nothing else.

Unless they tell you in advance, thay cant drug test you.
Most pre job medicals in Ireland (with the exception of a few companies) are standard checkups, with maybe an eye test thrown in if you going to be at a PC.

They may ask you for a urine sample but its for a diabetes or some such test.

So if they haven't said you are getting drug tested, you won't be

don't worry about it, I have had a medical for a company also, I had smoked so was worried at the time, I did the urine test, everything was ok - they are not looking for drugs when they test your urine....
not yet anyway, I imagine this particular test is in the post though!

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it... I've never seen anyone gettin done for drugs in the standard company medical.

Drug and drink testing for employment medicals isn't done in this country, unless there's been a change recently.

I did a medical in Autumn 1999, and casually asked about it.

The doctor said the Irish doctors professional bodies ban it on ethical grounds, as they decided there was no informed consent possible in this case. (Even if people consented, they'd be doing it under the thread of not getting the job).

The urine test they do is for diabetes.

yeah if you are getting a medical and your really worried just get a mate to do the honourable thing and pish in a bottle for you , and then you`ll be sorted.

why is everyone thinking that a medical is a drug test? they probably just want to see your health and see if youre fit for the job you gonna do and that youre not a diseased cancer ridden radioactive patient of some sort.

also there's a bunch of drinks available (they taste horrible) called detox, flushes out any trace of hash, acid, ectasy for medical tests.

if youre going to take someone' pee over for testing, make sure its a man's pee. next week for medical results - Doctor:"youre fit and healthy, and btw congratulations, youre pregnant"

It also covers their insurance if you have an accident at work and blame a pre-existing condition on the accident.

I did a medical where I was asked to provide a urine sample (did not know this was going to happen). I tested positive for cannabis and the offer was withdrawn due to failure of the medical.

Check out cannibis.com - they have really good advice and they also list companies that do screen for hash.

You could take lots of crack, acid, heroin, alcohol, cocaine and magic mushrooms before you go in that way the tester will think the testing equipment could'nt possibly be working correctly and he/she will be forced to pass you. It will be important to keep a straight face when being tested as a constant smile (aka a huge grin ) might give you away.
