Has anyone done this course in a combination or anything?
I'd appriciate any info you could give me on it and if you managed to get a job after it :)

I did Politics with Philosophy in Arts in UCD. I got my degree last July. It was a very broad, in-depth course that covered political philosophy, political science, political sociology, comparative politics, international relations etc. I enjoyed it immensely and UCD has the best politics department in the country.

As anyone trying to get a job will tell you, it's hard to find a job with whatever qualification you have. I'm currently trying to get a job with the Green Party, researching - as I'm going for a career in policy-making, a politics and philosophy degree suits me to the ground. However, if you're not interested in that kind of thing, a degree in politics makes you suitable to a huge swathe of employment areas including research, the civil service/public administration, NGO work, journalism, political party work, business and marketing. That's just the bunch of stuff that comes to mind - really, it allows you to pretty much do anything. Just combine it with something equally as marketable.

My advice is: if you're interested in doing it more than anything else, just do it.

Have a look at www.ucas.ac.uk - they have some info on Political Science and the sort of job areas that degree offers.
