The event starts on Friday and after the bad-tempered Brookline
show-down three years ago can Europe regain some pride and more importantly piss the yanks off?

I love to see it but too many of our side are out of form and the weather may not be bad enough!

USA to win by 2 points.

    Mike.

Not many Golf fans on the boards...Not a bad day but could have ben so much better, Woods and Harrington the worst in terms of points lost I think.

Still a 1 point lead is a lead, roll on tomorrow, pity is the Yanks will clean up on Sunday as they always do.

    It'll be close.
1/2 either way. Hopefully our way.
No Sky Sports means I cant see it live though.

ahhh somewhere i can get get flamed nicely...

USA to win hands down...like i said last week before it began.

"Westwood/Garcia and Monty were bang on form"

Oly half right im afraid, last 2 holes was CHOKEARAMA for the two boyos...garcia missed an easy one on 17 and Westy missed on 18...sad way to get a point, but sure, we'll take it.

8-8 means you gotta play outta your sockies to take that trophy....

    No flaming from me!

I always knew it was an uphill fight. Still maybe form can be turned on its head just once...

Torrance has applied an interesting tactic for tomorrow.
Send out the better players fisrt to hopefully chalk up a few scores for our board and then hope that their momentum will carry through.
Still you never know, some of the better players may have stinkers tomorrow.
And maybe a freak storm will blow in and sway the weather advantage in our favour.
I think we can win it.
No reason why it shouldnt be a close one.

Okay, Hats off to the Europeons....it would have to be an irishman to win it as well. Looking forward to 2006.

On a side note, that was the worst coverage of a golfing event I have ever seen. The one sided-ness of the commentary (16 shots of Torrance, 2 of Strange per day) wasn't the worst part.
I think SKY rely on the 8 screen interactive thingy too much. Where was the history? the individual stories of the players? the shots of previous matches? Half the time you hear cheers from somewhere else before you get to see what is happening. Too many screens not enough camera men?

It would have been done wayyy better on bbc.

Is this the future of sport? Murdoch buys up all the events with a big paycheck and we suffer with crap coverage ?

    :D:D:D

Damn internet, was trying to avoid the scores and watch the BBC2 highlights package later...

Still I'll watch it now with a smug grin on my face!

As for Sky, yep they are the devil incarnate. The Beeb will never win the rights back I fear. :(

    Mike.

    YES.
I knew we could win it.
Wish I didnt know we had though, was also looking forward to it tonight on BBC2.
    14 1/2 - 11 1/2 was that the final score?

Great Stuff. I presume the reason not many people posted replies is they've all been glued to the TV for the past three days! Great performances from Harrington and Monty. And it was some putt by McGinley to win it.

As for Sky, I think Butch Harmon should be sent back on his boat to Nike HQ. His constant Nike this, Nike that comments get very irritating after three days. Then his ranting about Tiger Woods never ends... What was Woods up to on the last hole playing it out to the finish, does he not realise it's a team event? I enjoyed watching him miss the last putt, but I'm sure it was due to a manufacturing anomaly in the Nike factory... ;)

Just scrolling this thread and saw that i didn't leave my prediction here. The correct prediction I left on pigsback might see me clean up though, happy days, I had a feeling we were going to do it. The Americans looked good on paper, but then golf isn't played on paper. They had fúck all team spirit, and were never at the races.
