I have a satellite system. The only thing is I am missing is UTV and C4. I live in the north Kildare area and was wondering if anyone has put up an aerial to get UTV and C4.
Would it work where I am. I don’t see too many about?

I think you may have answered your own question. If there are not that many UHF aerials pointing North around, then I would assume that the is no workable signal to receieve. :(
If you live in a town that is highly cabled, go out a few miles into the countryside and see what pieces of ironmongery, if any are in use.

Being at the right side of the Wicklow mountains as you are, I wouldn't rule out good old Brougher, way up in tyrone.
You are definitely in the arena of spending a lot of money going down that route.
BBC card and Digibox-much more cost effective.

I have a traced map from an atlas from my old school which has a line showing the southern limit of UK TV reception in the Republic. It runs from North Mayo to south Sligo, Roscomon, Longford, Westmeath, East Offaly, Western Kildae and then into western Laois, Carlow and Wexford. So by looking at this limit there is a possibility but you should check with the locals and a TV dealer first if you want to go the terrestial route.

I helped install a mast on the old Enfield road just outside of Maynooth- i.e. North Kildare. Height was 120 feet and had to be amplified. Was in a copse of trees (hence the height). Signal was not bad (amplified of course). We had tried to install in 30 meters away previously, actually on higher ground, and all we got was horrible ghosting / snow. Its hit and miss- one of those round aerials might be an idea? Haven't seen any around in a while. We went with a Yaggi.

    Thanks guys
I think with the advent of C4 and UTV on the way to the ROI digital viewers, I will wait. I do’t think its worth the expense…
