BIOS Update

I just bought two new hard drives but the BIOS is too old to pick them up. I've looked for an update on the net for it but the majority of the sites don't actually specify which update I need. Can anyone tell me what update I need and where can I get it.

Sorry for being a pain but these are all well and good but which one do I download from
http://www.bios-drivers.com/companies/147.htm? I need one for Win2K Pro but I see a few of them which one is the one I need?

Right, the first thing you could have done was to search this board for "bios update".

Then you would have found many sites to help you without even having to wait for a reply.

The bios is on your motherboard. The fact that tens of thousands of different motherboard models exist, each with a different bios, means no-one is going to be able to tell you which bios to use unless you tell them what board it is.

The bios is written by the motherboard manufacturer, it is unique to most motherboards ( motherboards sharing the same design will use very similar bios programs ).

So the first thing to do is identify the motherboard manufacturer. You could just have typed the bios id into google as I did, as most bios info sites advise you to do. This yielded "MSI 6156VA", which was also in the text you posted.

Its also printed on the motherboard if you open your machine and look at it.
Then its a case of finding the manufacturers web page, putting "MSI homepage" into google should do the trick.

Then on the site, you could do a search for 6156VA or go to the support section, and browse through that way.

Theres a few bios updates there, they don't mention fixing support for high capacity hard drives, but I don't think you have any other choice.

I know you just wanted the short quick, lazy answer, and so you may feel that I'm patronising you but I'm sick of that crap.
