The Italian Job - one of the best. Who will ever forget 3 minis racing around a city!

I've still yet to see Ronin & The Bourne Identity - both claim to have classic car chases.

Cant say I've seen Bullet w/Steve McQueen.

I'll add more as I think of them...

Bullitt would probably be my number one. A classic then and still one now.

The scene where Gene Hackman races the El-Train is pretty cool too.

The chase in Ronin was decent too. Films had been lacking good chases for the while.

Bullit has a class car chase...
    Ronin (Audi S4 Versus 406)
    T2 had some good chases

I have to say that the one in the Bourne Identity is excellent. Very very well done, and edge-of-the-seat stuff.

Best car chase ever = Blues Brothers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

The one at the end of Bad Boys.
911 Turbo vs Dodge Viper GTS I think
    vrooom vrooom

    Bad Boys - 911 v Cobra no?
    doesn't look like a viper

    BUTT very good scene indeed.

T2 - bike vs tow truck was gr8

The Bourne Identity had the best car chase I've seen in absolutely ages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,399 ✭✭✭✭Thanx 4 The Fish

Kenny & Cartman on the Battery powered toy truck being chased by the Police ala OJ.

Gone in Sixty Seconds, last chase is about five minutes of pure adrenalin.

The French Connection had some good stuff in it too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

Trust SouthPark to have one of the best chases..

Gone in 60 seconds I had forgotten about alright.
The end chase is class even if tho car ends up in a heap
    Poor elanore! (sp?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    AC Cobra it is.
Just pulled out the DVD there out of curiosity.
Also 911 Turbo 36 I think it says on the back of the Porsche.

Must say Ronin the camera at the front of the cars were class

Blues Brothers, sheer mayhem. Also, French Connection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

Blues Brothers - pretty much most of the movie. Especially the chase in the mall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,761 ✭✭✭✭Winters

Ronin had to be an amazing car chases...
Blues Brothers was great and so was bullitt. Havent seen Bourne Identity yet ... might wait til lit comes out on DVD before watching it.

The south park car chase was so funny. "That crazy son of a bitch" .. i laughed for ages when I saw that one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭Frank Grimes

I'd say Bullitt followed by Ronin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

After Bullitt and The French Connection producer
Philip D'Antoni came up with a brilliant chase in a flick called The Seven-Ups which flopped but is worth checking out, or just set your VCR to start at 55 mins in!

    just found this GREAT site

    car chase index...

Vanishing Point. Basically, the entire film is a car chase, guided by a blind soul DJ and fuelled by ampetamines.

As the genius behind page 183 on Aertel says: "Great film. Primal Scream names an album after it"...

    aye Vanishing Point or Ronin.

oh dear, that 36 is probably added for stupid americans. why i don't know since every 911 turbo has a 3.6 litre engine (its bored up from the standard 911s 3.4)..

Yep, it was. It was a 1988 made-for-tv movie starring Richard Chamberlain as Bourne, and Jaclyn Smith as Marie.

I think its more faithful to Ludlum's original book than the remake (Bournes original assassination attempt was for Carlos the Jackal, methinks...... in the new one, he was after that Wombosi guy).

I wonder if they'll finish the trilogy with Matt Damon? Ludlum did two other Bourne books (The Bourne Ultimatum and The Bourne Supremacy).

Or maybe it's like the 36th one built.
He does say something about it being a limited edition at the beginging of the film yadda yadda yadda.
    Nice car though.

Just had a look at that varaces.com site and they say it's a Porsche 930.

    http://www.varaces.com/info.php?id=27

    [edit]
A 930 is the factory name for a 911 Turbo.
    here
"Turbo 3.6" must have been what was on the back of the car.
    [/edit]

well id have to say RONIN.
The chase with the realist feel id have to say, i saw it in the flicks and it blew me away, sound and all and i done even have it on dvd, i dident have palyer when i baught it so i only have it on video.

Though i did like the car chase in Basic Instint the howling sound out of those Louts esprit V8`s. the white one and black one. You lads all rember that one dont you?
or is there only one image stuck in youre head after seeing that film?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 200 ✭✭Phryxus

i just got back from the bourne identity, great chase in the mini, i think it was only cool because it's a mini, i like mini's, they give style to the chase.

Ronin, although I still dont get how an audi S8 hooked up on nitrous can barely keep up with a Citroen XM

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 210 ✭✭BJJ

The Ronin car chase was great in some respects but I didn't really like it, No big Crashes, no Bystanders getting splatted by the speeding mercedes...

But I still rank it as number 3

*Not exactly a film but any Car Chase from the Game DRIVER or GTA ( You just can't beat them!! )

    *Taxi--- fantastic dark French comedy

    *Ronin

*The Fast N Furious ...great cars!!

    *Bullitt - classic

    *Doberman..Pure Evil

    *The French Connection..maybe the best

    *The Bourne identity

    *MI2 motor bike Chase

    *Vanishing Point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭spooky donkey

yeah driver in survival mode, id love to see that in a film!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,876 ✭✭✭Borzoi

To go against the grain, I thought the car chase in Ronin to be so comical to be on a par with the Blus Brothers.

As it happens I watched Bullitt last night on DVD, what a scene. Amazing noise from the Mustang. Class film.

    Italian job is class too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,013 ✭✭✭lynchie

Ronin has to be the best

The two car chases with Nicolas Cage in Gone in 60 seconds ('67 GT500) and The Rock (ferrari after a Hummer) were quite good too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 647 ✭✭✭My name is Mud

Dunno if anybody said this before, but

    The Blues Brothers!

One of the 1st car chases to go through a shopping mall, and they wrecked sooo many cars too!

They'd be on par with those illegal bare knuckle fite vids

    Yeah, with a few changes.

Robbery is in LA from what I've heard (they were filming on Hollywood Boulevard last week, car chase and helicopters) but they are also filming in Genoa so presumably it'll at least have something to do with Italy.

Ed Norton, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron are involved. Ed doesn't particularly want to do it, see here.

    It's out here 12 September 2003.
