A couple of pubs in C'bar are showing either a Liverpool or Man united game live on a saturday afternoon on Canal+. Coverage is in french but turn up BBC 5 Live and it's ok. Is this going on anywhere else ? Has anybody any idea on how much it is, might get it at home if it is cheaper than Sky Sports

I believe the United match was on in the Quays in Templebar on Saturday.

As far as I know the whole canal+ thing is pretty much illegal, I don't know how much the equipment you'd need would cost, but it wouldn't be exactly cheap and assuming you got a viewing card/subscription to work, there would be no guarantees over it.
I think you'd find out more info on the community/satellite section of this page.

Mossy, are they still at that? I remember some fuss about 4/5 years ago on WLR FM, talking about the number of pubs taking a
signal from Norwegian telly, TV2 I think, and Sky or was it Cablelink (!) threatening allsorts.

Nestors is one of the few in Limerick that show them and I think its on Scandinavian Canal+. Turn up the volume on Today FM or 5Live.

I have a mate who used to work as a "bouncer" in Bangor, Co Down, and he says that the pub he used to work in paid him extra to work on Saturday afternoons because of Premiership football, beamed from either Norway or Sweden! Now I don't know if that's still the situation, but that's just what I want to say!

Most of the saturday games are ebamed around europe on different satellites. You can get a list of what games are on what satellite here. You can access most of these from hotbird/astra.

"Mossy, are they STILL at that?"
In my opinion, they will never stop, because, while it is technically illegal and everybody knows it, I don't see the police in England, Northern Ireland, the Gardai, or anywhere else busting a gut to catch all the premises who do it, when they could be out and about the countryside catching murderers, rapists etc-the REAL criminals!
