    The Register
BT Wholesale began a four-week ad campaign today in a bid to raise awareness for its broadband pre-registration scheme.

The scheme - launched earlier this summer - allows people to register their interest in broadband even if they are in an area currently not wired up for ADSL.

The theory is that if enough people register their interest, BT will upgrade their exchange for broadband enabling them to hook up to high speed Net access.

Currently, around a third of the UK is unable to access ADSL.

The national campaign kicked off today with ads in the Times and Guardian with the headline "COME ON BRITAIN, WE KNOW YOU WANT IT."

It also contains a list of almost 60 ISPs - from Activeware Consultants to Zen Internet - that sell BT-based ADSL.
