Just saw that John o'Shea has a cap for the rep. of ireland.
I'm just wonderin why i havent seen him in the Irish squad at all thus far. After watching today's performance against Chelsea im sure he could be an asset to the squad. Perhaps not as a regular 1st team player but definitely as a squad member.

Could some one clear up for me why he hasn't been in the Ireland squad? Is Mick being a twat again or is there some other reason?

    Thanks :X

John O'Shea is more than good enough in my book, and yes Mick is being a prat, he would have captained the U-21 team on Tuesday but for Man Utds defender probs.

G'wan O'Shea! (I can say that cos he's a local, even if he does play for Money Utd)

Yeh why the hell isn't he a member of the squad? Especially since we need some good, solid defenders right now...but wait we have Ian Harte...

he looks a good one alright. Im pretty sure he came on for Ireland before. He's one to look out for alright.

Ian Harte is a left back (Not a very good one at that) and O'Shea is a center back from what i've seen.

O`Shea is Irelands future and Mc Carthy knows it.

Ferguson has done another good job on him and watching tonight against Hasselbaink one of the worlds top strikers he barely got a sniff.

I look forward to seeing O Shea as centre back against Russia.

Pri.ck McCarthy has a policy of picking players who are first team regulars where-ever they may be. Thus a player who is an automatic choice at a club such as Beeemingam will be considered ahead of a ManUre bit player.

Did ye see him play against Chelsea last nite?? He was absolutely class, reminds me of Ferdinand som much, put Blanc the wa*k in his shadow, showed strenght, power and speed, a bit naive with his passing but for both United and Ireland he is going to be (hopefully) sh** hot. After seen us playing on Wednesday we seem to have a very good young squad ahead of us

I agree with all of that. All he needs is a little experience on the passing side of his game and he'll be a complete player. I have no doubts that he will be one of the best central defenders in the world one day. If he keeps going like he is now he will definately be there. Both himself and Ferdinand will be regulars for United for the rest of this season if they are fit methinks.

I'd like to add in this bit on his judgement. Did you see when Hasselbaink tried a dummy in the second half where he stepped over the ball with Zenden (I think) just about to get a clean strike on the ball and O'Shea cut out the pass. That step over would fool 99% of the players in the world and if he got it wrong he would have definately caused Jimmy Floyd to score. Pure Class!

Delighted to see that peeps here of the same opinion.
I couldn't believe it when it said he was irish :D

We will put it down to class but it could have been a bit lucky too. But only time will tell, I was over there last Feb and was talking to a few hardshaw supporters who were askin me what we thought of him over here as he was so highly rated with them.

It will be nice to see him kicking the sh** out of Owen and Vassell in the Euro championships!!! :D

No it would'nt, he's not that sort of player for one and two, England are going to win 2004 beating Ireland in the final!

    Wakes up... ;)
