A well known near monopoly with a name not ending in B and not beginning in T has been accepting Expressions Of Interest in broadband from smaller towns and rural areas in its franchise area.

It has been a roaring success apparently.

Our own monopoly don't want to know anything......but we know that.

Dermot Ahern , the minister of communications, has a website with a buggy forumThing that would be a most useful expression of interest engine but Only if it Worked!

Could the committee send Dermie babes a nice letter outlining how volunteers from IoffL/Boards will undertake to fix his crappy website so that we can all start expressing our interest pronto....the might also tell him where he can stick his departments Fibre Rings ...and I mean that literally..... in a way that matches demand.

Alternatively we should start carrying markers to write 'expressions of interest' on Eircom vans seeing as there is no other forum in which to 'express interest' .

    Just an idea now!

    M

I wrote to Eircon recently quoting a Reg article which was about this. I asked them would they consider implementing a forward thinking concept such as this. Surprise, surprise, no fcuking reply. I must check their customer charter again as I think I remember it saying that they must reply within a certain number of days.
