Remote reset of Sky Box?

Is it possible to reset the sky box using only the remote control? I've got a UK FTA card as well as a regular card and the frequent swapping can make the box erratic (e.g. loosing the program information text).

I know I could walk the six feet across the room and pull the plug, but if there is an easier way please let me know...

    TIA,

    Skyster

Not unless you buy an IR switchable socket adaptor with its associated remote control (oh no, not another one).

But, as you are just resetting to get programme info back (the i button shows "programme synopsis not available" or whatever), the trick is to go to a channel with digital text (e.g. Sky News) and go in 2 levels (Text, News Headlines) then press Sky to exit and key in the number of the channel you were on. That should have restored the i button's functionality without unplugging the box.

Sounds long-winded but it's very quick once you get used to it - and it saves that long walk!

Just to add to the Remote controlled socket concept, you can pick these up fairly cheaply..

I have a Philips model socket remote control (cost about 7 quid) which is radio-wave (RF - as opposed to IR) which would be very handy for doing this (I use it to remote control the central heating!), but as seargent said, it means another remote control)..

Dead handy for the Kettle in the morning

And here's a URL, just in case you're as lazy as I am..

Good point, the IR socket was a bit of a stupid suggestion because the socket is likely to be out of direct line of (IR) sight.

I like the RF alternative though (despite the additional remote 'difficulty').
