So what do you guys think about this move?

I think its the best move for the team short of paying for engines from either Ford or Honda.

Its a pretty decent deal, free engines for 3 years, apparently light weight according to EJ, so they most be far lighter than the current spec from Honda. Should be an interesting 3 years for Jordan.

The current spec Ford engine is reckoned to be one of the best in the field....which is as much as any team could ask for.

Jordan have an unnerving habit of building sweet cars when their engines are relatively poor, and unbalanced cars when the engines are better class. Hopefully this wont continue next year. Maybe I'm just imagining it :)

Of course, we'll probably see a Honda resurgence next year, with them reclaiming their crown as top dog in the engine stakes, and we'll all be cursing the day EJ and they split. But it wont matter, cause BAR are still crap, and wont be able to do anything with it anyway :)

I'm thrilled to see Eddie getting this deal. When he clinched the 5 year Honda deal everyone thought he had a brilliant deal which might even see Jordan winning a championship at some stage. Didn't happen unfortunately but maybe he'll have a 2nd chance with Ford.
I think BAR will start to perform next season, this Dave Richards looks like he knows his stuff and maybe Honda will come up with the goods now that they have only 1 F1 team to concentrate on. Hopefully they will improve and allow Jacques Villeneuve to save his career.

Personnally I hope Honda don't make it, just because of the nearly maybes presented all through this season and the kick in the teeth of most Jordan fans up until we found out Jordan are getting Ford next season.

JV needs to take the next chance he gets and get the hell out of BAR, besides BAR is going to need two development driver ie Button and Panis next year, not really what JV can provide, but his got a contract that promises him 19 mil a year, would you go?

I just read on the F1 Racing website that Panis has a seat with Toyota for next year so he won't be staying with JV for another year. I presumed that Allan McNish would be the one to get the boot from Toyota but apparently both his and Mika Salo's contracts expire at the end of the 2002 season and neither will be reknewing them. I can't see either of them getting a decent seat for 2003.

Given the fact that this year`s Cosworth is said to be 7KG lighter and 20bhp more powerful than its Honda counterpart. next year should be a quantum leap. The heaviness of the honda engine was the main contribution to the poor weight distribution of the EJ12. This made it difficult to maximise the cars performance on bridgestone tyres. Honda will Build a powerfull engine next year but will be let down by BAR. Geoff Willis is a Mediocre designer and will only improve BAR by a couple of tenths. With Durand and Anderson in charge of the technical department the Ford Powered EJ13 should be enough to keep Renault and possibly Mclaren or Williams honest.
